Every year, there are a number of St. Patrick's Day activities to take part in and enjoy in Chicago. From watching the Chicago River be transformed into a vibrant, Irish green waterway, to standing along the parade route with friends, there are a number of exciting activities to keep you occupied on, or around, March 17th, 2022.
The Chicago St. Patrick’s Day parade will be held March 12th this year, just after the dyeing of the Chicago River. Additionally, the South Side Irish parade will also be going on this year, and is scheduled for March 13th.
Beyond the parades, you can always find a good St. Patrick’s Day pub crawl to enjoy in Chicago. For example, the “Kiss Me, I’m Iris” bar crawl by Barcrawlerz is a 2 day event, scheduled for March 12th and March 18th, so you can still get in on the Irish-themed fun even if one of the two days doesn’t work for you.
There are also a number of other bar crawls throughout the city that may appeal to you, such as the Wicker Park Lucky Charms Bar Crawl, and other events, like “Shamrock’n the Block” hosted by Old St. Patrick's Church. This is an all-day block party in the West Loop that offers live music, a heated beer tent, food, kid-friendly activities, Irish dancing, and more!
You can also do your own bar hopping, since you are sure to find any number of bars throughout the city, such as Broken Barrel on Southport, decked out for the holiday, and offering a combination of festive drinks, Irish food, and planned events featuring drink specials and appetizers.
