This is a trend that's been around for a while, but we see it going strong into 2021 and are so happy about it! Many couples are choosing to go a slightly less traditional route when it comes to the wedding party's attire, opting for different dress/suit styles, textures and colors. From selecting colors and textures that contrast for a bold look, or choosing similar colors that compliment each other in a soft way, we love this look and think it's a great way for everyone in the wedding party to feel more comfortable with what they're wearing on your big day! We especially love these champagne and dusty rose colored dresses from Baltic Born Clothing.
As was true in 2020, we definitely expect to see some couples opting for an elopement or a small and intimate wedding instead of a larger gathering. While we hope that 2021 will bring the opportunity for people to gather in large numbers again, we still love the beauty of an intimate ceremony! For example, these intimate nuptuals shot by Stephanie Maurie Photography on Lady Grebe last summer created the most perfect and unique way to say "I do" on a smaller scale!
While some couples have decided to ditch party favors for their guests, we expect to see lots of fun and creative ways for couples to say "Thank you" to their guests this year, while still keeping everyone safe and sanitized. These customizable paper bags from Details On Demand are particularly festive and cute!
Having the entirety of a wedding completely outside isn't a new concept, but it's one we think will definitely be a focus moving forward into the new year! Being completely outside is great option both because nothing can beat fresh and open air, but also because it helps to keep everyone safe. This wedding reception aboard Chicago's First Lady shot by Dennis Lee Photography is a great example of how a couple can take advantage of the beauty of open air - HELLO glittery skyline!
Personally, we love the idea of acoustic guitar or ukulele during a ceremony, or smooth live music during a cocktial hour or reception, and we think this is a trend that will really take over in 2021 as couples might be more inclined for a more laid-back reception! You can check out a list of some of our favorite entertainment vendors here.
Bold and plentiful colors really started trending about two years ago, and we're pleased to expect this to continue! There's always much to celebrate when it comes to a wedding, and we think there will be even more to celebrate in 2021 - so why not select a color pallette that expresses that celebratory atmosphere? We're looking to this beautiful and bold installation by Kehoe Designs for inspiration for this trend!
Individual cakes, cupcakes, donuts and other desserts have slowly been making their way to wedding reception tables in lieu traditional cakes, and we think that 2021 might be the year in which couples really capitalize on this trend. With selecting smaller, individual desserts you may avoid any cake-cutting fees, allow more options for your guests, and have some super cute sweets all at the same time! This small cake and matching cupcakes from ECBG Cake Studio are a great example.
From color pallettes to food and everything in between, we can't wait to see the ways couples are getting creative with their nuptuals this year!
