Our fleet grew in 2020 and we couldn’t be happier about it! Chicago’s Emerald Lady is a triplet to Chicago’s Leading Lady and Classic Lady that joined our team to host events for larger groups with plenty of space! She is perfect for entertaining, as she features an oversized bar, a spacious interior salon, and a large, open-air upper deck.
This new addition felt especially noteworthy this year as it symbolizes our ongoing commitment to the Chicago tourism industry.
Supporting local businesses is something that we’ve always strived to do, but the sentiment took on a new meaning this year. It’s worth walking the extra block to the coffee shop on the corner to show our local vendors just how much they mean to us, especially considering that we are a local, family-owned business ourselves!
From eating good food to decorating our homes with the work of local artisans, we have been even more conscious of buying from local vendors. Chicago has long been a cultural hub, and we want to keep it that way! Like many others, our team has leaned into supporting local businesses and ensuring that they’re here when the world returns to “normal.”
Despite the shutdown impacting so much of our city (and world!), we were still able to open our doors with advanced safety protocols this year. We always make it our top priority to provide the best Chicago River cruise experience possible, and this year strengthened our passion for our jobs.
In addition to our architectural cruises, we even helped couples make the most of their wedding day despite their plans drastically changing due to COVID.
If you didn’t get the chance to come aboard one of our vessels this year, not to worry, as we are planning to reopen at full capacity as soon as it is safe to do so.
One of the toughest parts of this year has been letting go of how we think things should be going and learning to accept how they are actually going. As excited as we were about operating at full capacity during our peak season, we learned to adjust and find joy in the small things that we can control - like providing all guests with a safe way to enjoy our beautiful city and its iconic architecture.
We find more joy in the simple things, and this year has made us appreciate all of you that much more.
Now more than ever, we are so appreciative to be located in Chicago! This year has presented endless challenges to the city and we are emerging on the other side. Some of our favorite parts about being in this city are the people, the food, the culture, and the ongoing commitment to supporting one another.
Thank you for another year of support and memories! We are excited to get back on the Chicago River in 2021 and show you the very best that Chicago has to offer. We’ll be sure to keep you updated with our hours and schedule as that information comes out.
Happy holidays from our family to yours!
